You can get coolers on Amazon for less than $30 delivered that are normal shaped and will hold a lot more cigars. Get one of those and some boxes to put your cigars in, the wood will help maintain a stable environment.
Brett and I have been discussing this as well. As an ex-broke collage student I understand your struggle. Brett is working on the idea that he'll get himself some kiln Spanish Cedar which he was able to find a good source of it by calling a local hardware shop and asking if they knew any good places for that then cutting and lining rivets into the side to slide shelves into it and then using boxes he's collected from local B&M's to store cigars in and then getting the humdifier stuff for it for each box and using the cooler to lock in everything else since Colorado is weird and warps wood that is moist and most of the boxes are warped so they don't close and seal. That might work for you. As for the beads you can usually find those at any B&M around you or here at c.com just don't forget the glycol and the Boveda packs to keep everything nice and stable and pretty brainless and keeps your cigars happy.
Buying spanish cedar is far more expensive than old cigar boxes which can usually be had for between 0 and $1/each. I'm re-doing my coolidor from boxes to custom cedar trays because I want to increase capacity without having the wife looking at TWO coolers. It's gonna cost quite a bit of dough to get it the way I want though. Boxes are WAY cheaper.
If I ever get to meet up with you ill bring along all of those victor sinclairs i still have so you can send them. thats a great offer and ill have to turn it down but you are doing great things!! I got paid today (have extra money for the first time in what seems like forever) so im planning on heading out to walmart on monday to find a 36-50qt cooler.
what brand/model is it? i stopped by walmart on my way home (if i was in the market for a 120qt they had a pretty nice looking one on sale for $70....) and the only one i liked in the 50ish qt range was the 52 qt IGLOO Sportsman.
