    DJ Micro - Tech-Mix Live
Back in 2006 in Jacksonville I wasn't feeling well one night and declined to go out to the club with some of my friends. I went to sleep. DJ Micro was playing. I awoke to DJ Micro standing over my bed having just broke one of my vinyl records over my head. Apparently, since I couldn't go to the party, they brought the afterparty to me.

Just a question. What exactly is viking/pirate metal. It sounds interesting.

Oh yeah.... I've been listening to Empire of The Sun lately. Those guys have a very unique sound to them. You've probably heard their song We Are The People on a commercial on television before.

This link can sum it up better than me. Link. If I were to suggest something I like in that genre, it would be "Nordland" from Bathory. "Nordland II" is worth a listen, but I don't feel it is as good an album. Oh and "Blood, Fire, Death" from Bathory is also good.

WTF Cigar.com moderator???? Paul Van *** is the name of the #1 DJ in the world! It's kinda like *** Van ***. How are you gonna edit out his last name like that??? I mean I get it, but you're sorta taking it outta context.

    These Filthy Hands:
Great thread. I'm a metal head, but I listen to damn near everything.

    Converge
Funny side note: I've mentioned before that I do Muay Thai. Well I trained with a kid who looked all to familiar a few times recently and when I asked him his name he said "Jake." With the tattoos and the name and face, I put it all together...Jake Bannon from Converge. OK, I thought it was kinda cool.

As for my musical tastes, music is my thing. Been in bands for years, starting with metal (The Red Chord - I was the original bassist before the first album and was thanked in the first two albums - my claim to fame) and now doing vocals in a hard rock band (heavy southern rock - kinda Corrosion of Conformity, Only Living Witness...). I'm gonna say my taste in music is eclectic. The last few albums/artists purchased...

    Bach
    Chopin
    Mozart...

Now you're talkin'! Bach's Contata No. 80 is a favorite of mine as is Brahm's German Requiem at around 3:30 into the 4th movement. It's amazing...I can just feel the tensions of life being drained from my body. I love Wiki...you can listen to each movement individually. I know Tchaikovsky is wildly popular, but he was so gifted and he did such a fantastic job...which of course, is why his work is so wildly popular. I just love Swan Lake and his Serenade for Strings in C.

Oh, and no one's mentioned Puccini or even Pavarotti for that matter. But then, these aren't the most popular forms of music.

I also enjoy all the usual rock/metal/punk/grunge/pop/ and even country. Not so much into rap. I could get into Jazz if I really looked, I'm sure. I'm so busy with my other favorite genre's that I haven't taken the time to find someone I'd really like, though I'd love to find someone.

not super complex but pretty heavy... the guitar tone is phenomenal. I might have to look into their gear a bit further.

They are recording a new album now. These guys are firefighters, paramedics, and school teachers. I think they have enormous potential. Be interested to know what else you like since we might have similar taste.

Dude you just asked the guy with 300+GB of music what he likes. This might take awhile... right now I'm just getting into Oceansize.
    here's the short list:
    Further Seems Forever,
    mewithoutYou,
    Incubus,
those are the bands that will never leave the ipod.
    As far as heavy music
    Meshuggah,
    Deftones,
    Between the Buried and Me,
    Deadlock

Oh man Stephen, I saw Meshuggah in the Anaheim house of blues last spring and I think my ears are still ringing. They put on a great show in a great venue and the best part is I saw Danny Carey (Tool's drummer) there.

Side note: Haake is a beast of a drummer, I'm surprised he was able to pull off Bleed live.

I have 2.5TB of Dave Matthews Band concerts, in lossless audio, on my hard drives.

    No, not GB - TB.

And I have seen them in concert ten times in the last five years.

I do listen to other music, though.

    Favorites include -

    Dresden Dolls / Amanda Palmer
    Ben Folds
    Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
    The Disco Biscuits
    moe.

And then there's the metal -

    Opeth
    Lamb of God
    Ayreon
    Dream Theater
    Gojira
    Ephrat

I also find myself very attracted to the music of Joe Hisaishi. Especially the "Nausicaa Symphonic Poem", which is currently the most played track on my iPod by far, despite the fact that it runs for almost 18 minutes. Hehehe.

I am not a taper. Just a hardcore trader. I do a lot more ULing than DLing these days, though.

I suppose if I had the money to go across the country and go to more DMB shows, I might contemplate taping. But the only venue I ever saw them at was The Gorge (which admittedly is a very nice venue).
