Is it Christmas?

I'm asking myself because as of late, meaning the last few years I have felt like Xmas has just been a big media and shop holiday. Last year was nice as we had a crap load of snow so that sort of thing made it feel like Christmas but overall I just don't feel it. Maybe I need kids? Maybe a dog, or hell I don't know. Maybe I just work too much. Either way I just don't feel it.

My friendly fuzzy friend....I feel TOTALLY the same way. I have kids and still feel the same way. Thought I was the only a-hole who felt it.

I know what you mean, this year doesn't feel as much like it because I'm working pretty much straight through the holidays, but it still does for me because I have a kid. That really does change everything. Last year was the first time in years Christmas has been special to me because it was my son's first. That really does bring the holiday spirit back when you see your child's face light up when looking at the Christmas tree.

The only thing I like about the Holidays is that I get to see my parents, brothers and sister, all at the same time. That and all the Food !

This will be the first Christmas in may years that'll actually feel like Christmas. Especially since I stopped celebrating Xmas, and switched to Christmas...

I used to hate Christmas. Lights and trees and presents and all that crap. Now that I have kids it's a lot different. The funny part is, after having kids the presents for me and my wife get a lot less extravagant but the presents are more plentiful for my girls. It's fun seeing them have fun and be festive and excited. It's because I'm getting old. I am 33 after all.

I wasn't aware they were two different things.... Glad I'm not the only one, I guess it may help when we get our house and are able to make it more of a home than what we have now.

I'm even making plans for a happy holiday season years down the road! I think after the kid is grown and gone, my wife and I are going to start celebrating XXXmas! hehe Hop a plane to an island resort somewhere and have some holiday fun! haha

See I love those things, though people are loons around this time of year. And it's worse when there is snow and ice!

Well said cabby. So far, I have loved every Christmas. The music (yes, I love Christmas music), the lights, trees, the festivities, and the meaning of it all is incredible. Guess I'm a goof, I love Christmas!

I swing between both camps on this one.
I used to LOVE watching the kids open their presents, the tree, the snow all of it.
Now that the kids are grown the fun has basically gone out of it.
I do enjoy seeing my mom, the other relatives are all in Alberta, so we do the phone thing.
I don't enjoy all the commercialism surrounding Christmas, but hey that's what a free enterprise system is all about, finding the $$$ in every situation.

Haha Damn right, maybe even make one of our own if I get her liquored up enough! LMAO By that time we will be so old we won't have to worry about anyone else getting their hands on it, nobody will want to see it but me and her!

You know I see everyone's point here on this.

I remember being a kid and what a magical time of year it was. Snow, family, food, presents, break from school, sledding, snowball fights, snow forts, etc. It was so much fun and I had no cares in the world.

Now that I am older and have my own kids it has changed. I love doing everything for them. We love to decorate and be festive. Thing is I am so stressed dealing with life it is hard to really stop and take it all in. I am old enough to know what is going on politically in the world and it is scary. People want to make a buck and the other people want to kill you to spend their buck. I think the meaning and spirit of the holidays is being lost.

This year I am excited for my kids. I didn't think we were going to be able to manage Christmas but we did. My daughter is 3 and she has brought that missing magic and innocence back for me. I will be off work for the first time in IDK how long so I get all of that family time. Now they say we will have snow here. Everything is just adding up to make this Christmas extra special for us.

Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f u c k i n g Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse....Clark W. Griswold Jr.
