So as I near my century posts mark it's hard to believe the addiction I've gotten from being on here. When I first joined I didn't know what to expect. To be honest didn't think I would be on here as often as I am. These BOTL are awesome and I've received nothing but warm welcomes, great laughs and even greater brotherhood.
So your asking why the title affair if I'm talking about number of posts and addictions. Well earlier today I tried explaining to my wife the brotherhood I have on here; something I've been missing and seriously I'm a crack addict with this forum. She tells me I'm so glad to here that for the past few nights and days I starting thinking that you were having an affair. LOL I assured I wasn't and tried to explain the BOTL to her.
My discussion question is - what did your wives first think when you first joined the forum?

my wife thought (at first) it was great that I found something to do "for a good portion of the day" but now she will walk by say things like "I dont think even porn addicts are on the computer that much" O-o
She does raise a great point with porn addicts
When I started cigars, there was little as far as forums. For that matter, I didn't give it a thought that there was communities.
After building a large automotive technical information group, I thought if there are forums for mechanics, maybe there are for cigars.
In 2003, I started being active in an auction (sister site) forum and Torano's forum.
A bunch of other forums I visited too.
After disliking certain things about the auction site forum and Torano's forum disappearing, I pretty much gave up on cigar forums.
After some purchases from Ccom, I discovered the forum link.
I lurked for probably 6 months, before I posted here.
And it probably took me 2 weeks to make 5 posts.
Then I made the mistake of posting on the Top Three you want to try thread.
Roberto99 hit me with those 3.
Then of course, I needed payback. So from there, it kind of went south on me.
This forum and Mike's are pretty much the only ones I'm active on. There are several I visit from time to time, but rarely active on them.
Well, since I rambled on, to answer your question.
As for what my wife thinks, she thinks we're all crazy, but understands it.
I mean, if he has a nanny fetish, who am I to judge.
Otherwise, I may only get one or two texts in 4 hours.
You guys make me laugh.
But to answer your question .... only time the wife says anything is when I get unexpected "boxes" that show up at the front door. Especially if it's a big box or multiple boxes in a short time frame.
Usually goes something like this:
"What is this? Did you buy more cigars? Stop buying cigars, you have plenty."
"You can never have enough cigars, dear. But anyways I didn't buy them, so let me see who it's from. (Check return addy.) Oh yes it's a bomb/trade from (insert name). I didn't spend any $$, dear."
"Oh ok, so someone sent you all these cigars? .... And there's snacks/beer/etc. in the package too? You're friends are crazy"
"Yes, yes they are. In a good way."
Not sure what she means by that...
