No because my wife will kill me. First cigarette then cigar. Now if I start pipe she will kick me out from the house LOL

Agree...but now it is becoming scary. I am smoking my fifth cigars of the day now LOL.

It's definitely a phase. I've had times where I didn't smoke for 2 weeks and I was fine. And many times with at least a week without. I also have 11 pipes and I haven't smoked one in several months.
Rip, you ever tried or consider smoking a pipe?
I think I want to try it just to change things up a little. I'm not saying I'm tired of cigars, I just want to give it a whirl. Some of the guys at the So Cali herf smoke pipes. I'm intrigued but I don't know where to start. I'll check out the the pipe threads.
Daniel, you are an adult and don't need any advise. My friend, don't start enhaling more smoke. Though I am a cigarette smoker but I do not appreciate my bad habit. Cigar is good enough. Health is also important in life.

Funny you bumped this thread... I tossed two cigars in two days, did not finish another that I normally like. It's rare I toss smokes, one was terrible, but the other was an old favorite. Oddly enough, grabbed an AJ Phalanx and made a decaf latte and am enjoying it. I may have to wait a week or so to smoke.
To be honest a pipe actually tastes better than a cigar sometimes. You get an actual sweet sugary flavor due to the tobacco mixed with syrup (if you get that kind anyways). But a pipe is such a pain...and most of the blends they have out there end up tasting the same. So I stick with cigars 99% of the time.
I think it is normal. Maybe we all need a break once in a while. See how it goes. This thread should be renamed as "what do I do when I feel not smoking but I love cigar" LOL

Funny thing is, that AJ was all tore up, binder showing all over, cracks, etc... Smoked it fast, got a great buzz, didn't have the typical AJ overearthed finish. I need a break... Although Avo classic, and Upmann majestics have been treating me wonderful as of late. Very impressed with the majestics honestly. I am almost afraid to do a review as well, so I don;t know what to do lol...
Well said. Excellent advice. I think you and Ken might be right on the money.
Rip, the one thing that can probably be said about you is that you have a precise and analytical mind, and a lot of energy and drive. You seem to enjoy delving into things deeply so that you completely understand every aspect of those things that interest you. That is a tremendous gift, one that we could all stand to have a little more of. Maybe all that analysis has gotten in the way of your enjoyment of the hobby. Maybe you need to re-discover the sheer fun and relaxation associated with a good cigar, or even a bad cigar, because “sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar".
David, you got me right there. When I get into something it also become my obsession. 26 years ago when I got into tea, I took professional blending training in the UK and Germany. Not only that but also attended some Tea Fairs in Asia, Europe and the US. However, I never wanted to take it as a profession though my grandfather was a very successful tea trader. I go through this phases in my life. When I served in Africa, I was into Victorian-Safari decor building and wine making. Then suddenly oneday I move into something else.
I agree with you enjoyment should be simple not so analytical. However, this is who I am and that what I always end up with. I also know that I am crazy.

Recently my inspiration has dwindled...it could be the weather or it could be I'm smoking a little too much as of lately. I find my buying has taken a downfall and I've been noticing a bunch of humi space. I don't think I've recently smoked a cigar that has well blown me away! It's getting more of a hassle to find other cigars I enjoy. But hopefully things change and my pallet comes back with my enthusiasm!!

I'll take that as a good sign.

Just my 2 cents.
