Choice of a Drink for Shots?

RainRain Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 8,761
If you are going to do shots, what is your drink of choice? I've always done Jack, but I'm looking to mix it up.

Jäger!!! Also, crown with an OJ chaser, patron silver... Otherwise, I'd rather just slam a bottle of Jamison's no shot glass needed.... Favorite chaser=coors light

In my drinkin days I was a Patron man. I also drank Jager till I was so snot-slingin drunk I walked into walls. Absinth was was another favorite. I could chase the Green Goblin all night and go to sleep feeling like I learned something. I quit drinking about 5 years ago, but if I were to have a drink it would be Absinth or Blue Label scotch.

For the life of me, I don't understand why a person would do "the shot thing" unless it were just to get sh1t-faced. To my (old, granted) mind, it's much more enjoyable to simply sip a well aged, fairly expensive bourbon - preferably sour mash but not strictly required.

I mean, I've been there, done that with regard to what you younger whippersnappers are talking about but, take my word for it, you'll eventually reach an age where delightful flavor trumps dizzy-headedness.

    Thus speaketh the oldfart...... LOL

I am all for drinking, but rarely do shots.
When I do them I do it only as a celebration or toast that someone wants to do. I usually ask for Jameson for I'm a scotch drinker and Jameson is only good enough to shoot rather than sip. If there's ladies and I want to get them drunk I buy a Jenna Jameson shot, it's 50/50 X-Rated and Jameson. The girls think it's cute for she's a porn star and it makes them feel dirtier, the X-Rated has a sweetness, but it's just pure alcohol and the Jameson, well, it's pure alcohol too. Tastes good for both parties and get's everyone wrecked. I do them about once a year and when I do, I throw my keys so far far away I hit princess leia in the tltty

I enjoy me some white dog now and again, great for mixing... don't think I would shoot it, too chemically for me. These have replaced standard cherries in my bar...the best old fashioned's are finished by this jar..

i'd eat those like candy.... never seen that brand around here, but i'll certainly be on the lookout.

I've only seen (and drank) junior johnson's midnight moon brand. Their original and apple pie flavors are pretty damn good. i could shoot either of those all day long.
(or sip them on the rocks all afternoon --- which i've been known to do :-D )

Little potent for candy eating (they sit about 100 proof)... If you are ever in Tenn, definitly go to their distillery, lots of flavors they don't sell nationwide...yet. http://www.olesmokymoonshine.com/varieties/

And, I feel this blows Junior's out of the water, at least their apple pie does.

I assume you're not a fan of vodka gummy bears or jello/pudding shots then??? LOL

and thanks for the info....i'll definitely pick up a jar or two if i'm ever through TN. Junior's is only 70 proof (i think) - so it doesn't have quite the kick this does.
i want to get my hands on some of popcorn sutton's as well.

Oh - and another good, mixed-brown liquor shot that will truly f*** you up:
four horsemen (or any variation of it)

Oh, it's not that I am not a fan. Let me put it this way, every year I go to at least one of the whiskyfests. While there, I will have 30+ drams in 5 hours, not counting what I imbibe before, after, and at the various hospitality rooms... and have always made it back to my hotel room with fairly coherent tasting notes. This summer, I went to a friend's wedding and brought a couple jars with the rest of my bar. Since I was mixing for people, I was trying to stay (mostly) sober, and only popping a cherry or two when I would make a drink with one... I did not successfully make it to my room. Moral of the story, these cherries go down like a liqeuer, and hit like a truck... Delicious, but dangerous. And if you can't find a bottle, let me know... I know how to work an envelope/freight box...

hahaha oh lord - thanks for the warning. i can certainly hold my own, but your story has me worried about these cherries LOL.

and if i ever find it, i'll certainly grab an extra bottle for ya - but don't get your hopes up; i have no plans to travel south anytime soon.
maybe one of the TN BOTLs could hook you up though --- i'd shoot a message to the doc (mmccartneydc) - maybe he can help you out.
