Well Folks. It's time. I have my back surgery next week and today is my last day of work for a few months. I am not looking forward to staying home. I hate not working. I know that this is the best thing, and that the surgery will be a complete success even life-changing. I'm just not looking forward to being out of work. Anyone gone through Short Term Disability? Any advice yall can give? All responses, no matter how silly, insulting or inflammatory will be appreciated. That is all. Carry on...

Hope the best for you.
I couldn't believe it, but again she told me that I would be up and walking around myself shortly. She was right again, as later that day I was walking across the room to the bathroom by myself.
You will be told what you can and can't do or lift but they don't treat you with kid gloves after back surgery and they want you up and moving before the stiffness from the sugery sets in. It would be harder to get up and walk a day or two after surgery then within a couple of hours is what they told me. My back is better now then when I was a teenager, so I guess they were right. Good luck with your proceedure bro'.
Two miles a day in Texas heat and humidity, with a back brace that will probably heat up like a vampire in a tanning bed. Did I mention that I'll be shuffling behind a walker? LOL Picture that and tell me you don't chuckle. That's going to be some funny $hit to watch. Even if it'll be my fat *** out there being laughed at by all the soccer-moms in the neighborhood. Good thing I have a good sence of humor.
Going to the bathroom is going to be fun. My wife already told me that there ain't no way in hell that she'll allow me to install one of those 18 inch tall toilet seats. Nor will she allow me to bolt some handicap bars in by the toilet. That's OK. I rigged a rope through the ceiling joice to pull myself up. I'm not done. I still need to incorporate all the pulleys and anchor it to the floor. *Giggle. Looks like that pallaites machine will finally be used as something other than a drying rack. My buddy is coming over tomorrow with his welder so the plan might change. I'll keep yall up to date. Thanks again for your encouragement.
