humidor mold

OMG, I have been having some humidity issues lately that I have been trying to work out. This morning I found some white fuzzy mold starting to grow in my humi. The sticks appear to be fine and I have moved them to temporary storage. What do I do? Is the humi ruined? I am freaking out. Thank you in advance.

step 1) dont freak out. you got rid of the mold already.
step 2) just bring the RH down to below 70%. this can probably be done by propping open the lid to your humi for 20-30 min.
step 3) buy some beads
step 4) use said beads
step 5) relax

Actually I have been using beads but I must have overcharged them. Can I just wipe the white fuzz away and restore proper RH or should something more be done to remove mold?

I've heard that if you wipe down your humi with a little bit of vinegar, it kills the mold. Not sure if it works though.

I used a white vinegar solution to clean out a couple of my roommates humi's that got some mold and they have been fine since. Just let the vinegar dry out real good and the smell will go away just fine. Then re-season in the normal fashion.

I had the same problem a while back and this is what I did: Used a distilled water/white vinegar solution to wipe down the humi and then even vacuumed it out for good measure. Let it sit with the lid open for a couple of days, then reseasoned. Haven't had any mold come back yet (knock on wood).

if you are worried that the vinegar will leave a smell, wad up some news paper and put it in there for a week, replacing the newspaper every night with fresh. that should suck out all the smell and moisture.

re-season and start the humi again.

I'm dealing w/ the same issue, I aired out the humi, light sanded it and reseasoned.
The sticks are quaranteened in a older humi, wiped down, unfortunately it seems that the acidy taste from the mold is gonna be the end of approx. 60 sticks. Keeping my fingers crossed but its not tasting too good.
