As I get ready to start physics grad school in three weeks, I just found this article about how a famous quantum mechanics experiment was - apparently - the result of a bad cigar :) Figured y'all would enjoy it. http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~hpu/courses/Phys521_source/Stern-Gerlach.pdf

    interesting read....

    it was a bit difficult to read through though, being that i hate physics and this crap was way over my head.
    its interesting that they re-did the experiment 80 years later because it sounded too far out there.
