with a cigar it is a problem. hours before a smoke it isnt. it will make the mouth more acidic without tasting oranges. this may help you taste the alkaline smoke better.
however, the same thing can be accomplished with coffee as a much better pairing -
kinda like brushing teeth and orange juice. just don't go together.

Pretty much the only thing I pair with a cigar is Root Beer...the natural vanilla flavors bring out the subtle flavors in the cigar. Though I will accept a Coke or Dr. Pepper in its stead.

I usually stick with the water suggestions that I kept hearing before... or beer. :-)
