New Humidor...seasoning with Xigar Propylene Glycol Solution ?

Everyone, Registered Users Posts: 4
New to the Humidor scene, Just got one as a gift from my girlfriend and was wondering if any one had any insight with seasoning and humidifying with Xigar PG solution and their beads.
Have been using PG solution in my traveling (plastic) Humidor with great success but never with a desktop humidor.
Don't know if whether to season traditionally with distilled water or if there is any real advantages or disadvantages with PG solution.

Just use distilled water. Damp a new sponge in distilled water and gently rub the wood every 24 hours for 3 to 4 days. You should be good after that. Also get a good hygrometer. Don't soak and definitely don't use tap water.

Put a shallow, wide dish in your humidor; fill it with tap or distilled water (doesn't matter; the minerals in tap water don't go airborne anyway) and leave it alone for 5-7 days. The humi should be properly seasoned by then

mmm yeah don't do this. Once maybe if your in a hurry. But a shallow bowl of distilled water works just fine. Put it in and leave it closed for a few days. When your hygrometer is holding steady around 70 your set.
