    My disk drive is going stupid. Have a newer Xbox so I am not happy. Wonder how much to get it fixed?

    try the old lens cleaner CDs? Any of that under warranty?

    have you tried taking off the face plate? I had an issue of this same nature and there was dust under the face plate (while I was in Afghanistan, where it's nothing but dust). just a bit of canned air blasted at everything that could be reached and it was good as new!
