I am pretty new here. And pretty new to quality cigars. But I have a "Gurkha Grand Reserve" to trade for a "Zino Platinum Scepter Low Rider" if anybody is willing.

Welcome to the forum bro. As you're a friendly newcomer, I'll fill ya in on a couple things:
1) We have a reputation thread around here, so we can keep track of good peeps. Now of course, someone has to trade with you first for ya to get on the list, but that tends to happen after a while...which leads me to my next point.
2) Jumping on here and posting up a trade for your first post is generally discouraged. It helps to put in some time in the forums, let us get to know ya, and that way it's easier to feel more comfortable when dealing with a new guy.
Now, all this said, I've done my share of trading with new guys and putting them on the Good Trader's list, but as it stands right now I have nothing to trade with you. Additionally, it's generally better to offer up at least 3+ sticks for trade - otherwise, the shipping doesn't really make sense.
Either way, welcome to the forums, and I hope you stick around. -

Thank you Hays for the info. I had a hard time finding some rules and regs. I don't have alot to offer in here, as I am not much of an expert. The three cigar idea makes sense. As of right now I only have 4 "Grand Reserves" in my humi. And I want to hang on to three. So I might just wait untill I get my box or two from the Gurkha man himself. Other then that. Thank you for the welcome. Maybe you can answer a couple of ?'s for me. -What is the best way to ship cigars? and -Is it nessasery to keep a tubed cigar in a humi? Thanks again, Jake

Mello, regarding your questions:
My preferred method of shipping is USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes. I have about 25 of the small boxes (they're free) just sitting in a closet. Throw your sticks in a ziploc, wrap em in padding of some sort, and box em up in the box (I've fit 8 or 9 sticks in a Small box). About $6 and change (with Delivery Confirmation, a general requirement around here), and it's at the destination usually within 2-3 days.
Tubo wise, it's really up to you. I think a lot of guys prefer to leave the cigar as it came and store it as such, but sometimes space doesn't allow. Personally, I leave my tubos closed and in the humi as long as I have the space. The stick will age slower this way, but right now I'm not trying to age anything so it's not a concern for me. If I don't have the space, I take it out of the tube and don't trip about it - the tubo is just packaging and helps protect the stick from damage. -

I am a Gurkha fanatic and have tons of them. Have you tried many of them or just a few? -
To be honest I haven't smoked any Gurkha's yet. I got these for a partial trade for a couple of knives. The knives were giving to the owner of Gurkha for a gift. And now the owner is going to send me a box or two. So I am not sure if i like them yet. But from what I've heard they arn't to bad. The only quality cigars I've smoked until now are, whaterver Macanudo I can afford at the casino, A Don Diago, OpusX Fuente, Bahama Mama, and a Serie D. no. 3 Partagas LE Habana. I saved the rings:). Hey Hays...great point and very diplomatically done...Marketing is key and the things you pointed out can quite often send your prospective customers away. The first impression someone will get of you is how much attention you pay to what represents you. Good site, good grammar...may very well indicate a GOOD craftsman... And one that comes to mind quickly is our guy from waxingmoonwood...great interaction...easy to naviigate site and great pics and ultimately a great product. But as it goes we are all learning....

I personally like the Grand Reserve - mild, smooth, slightly sweet. Since they're sealed with wax in glass tubes, they really require no humidor as they're sealed in a humid environment and that seal should be pretty air tight. I've had some for well over a year just sitting in a drawer and they haven't dried out on me at all. Just make sure they're not subjected to too much sunlight or rapid/extreme temperature fluctuations.

As far as gurkhas, my favorites are centurian and legend, in that order. Most everything else I've tried, eh...good but overpriced.

Do you do hot knife work or cold work? I am in the process of making a forge/foundry and would love to pick your brain if you do hot work. -
